It is no secret that sugar is one of the worst foods in our diet. Just starting with one simple change – reducing sugar intake is a big start. The average North American consumes 22 teaspoons of sugar. That is 355 calories. If a woman should be consuming no more than 1800 calories in total, that means 20% of their diet is coming from a food which is completely devoid of vitamins, minerals, amino acids or anything of any nutritional value. Sugar is straight carbs – and while we need carbs for energy – that is not a good choice.
